UCC Direct 3.0 is an improved version of UCC Direct 2.0 driver and supports a wide variety of configurations running on a Renishaw UCC controller with tactile probing. UCC Direct 3.0 uses a sub-set of I++ commands via UCCserver and the ClientTool environment. However, all user interaction is in CMM-Manager after the initial setup and configuration.
Direct 3.0 vs. 2.0
The main difference between 2 drivers is the adoption of block mode and fly radius in 3.0, which enables CMM-Manager to send commands to UCC as a group instead of one at a time. Faster and more fluid machine motion is the main benefit, reducing the cycle time of your program by approximately 20-40% in most application.

New Installation or Upgrading from UCC Legacy Driver
Configure the UCCserver ClientToolEnvironment by following the instructions in the User Guide below or the online instructions.
After configuring the UCCserver ClientToolEnvironment, setup/upgrade CMM-Manager as instructed in the User Guide below or the online instructions.
After the upgrade, the system should perform at least as well as before. If you experience an apparent decrease in performance, please see the following article: Machine motion is slow after CMM-Manager upgrade
Upgrading from Direct 2.0
Updating to Direct 3.0 is straightforward if you are already running CMM-Manager with 2.0. The current driver can be checked on the Log On window.
Click on the Switch Driver icon located under the System tab in the Ribbon Bar, select Renishaw UCC Direct 3.0, press the OK button, then re-start CMM-Manager for the change to take effect.
Enabling Fly Radius:
The fly radius can be enabled for the currently opened program via the DCC tab in Program Settings. Once the option is checked, the probe will blend each straight-line segment to the next using the specified radius when executing a series of Move commands. This leads to smoother and faster motion.
This driver has been replaced by Direct 3.0 as of CMM-Manager 2026. It is highly recommended to use 3.0 if available on your installation as 2.0 is considered obsolete and can provide limited support. See below for information about the 3.0 driver ...
