IGES export settings for third party CAD systems

If you are having troubles importing IGES file into CMM-Manager please try the following:

Turn On Pre-Process option for IGES import as shown below from Preferences or from CAD Import operation:

If you continue to experience difficulties with clean or timely import, then you may look at Export settings from the source of CAD data - i.e. Pro-E, Solidworks, CATIA, etc.  See known best export settings below for popular CAD platforms:


CATIA V5
- Curve and surface type: B-Spline
- Representation mode: Surface
CATIA V5 export

AutoCAD / Inventor
- Output as Surfaces
- Surface Type: IGES 144 – Trimmed Surface
AutoCAD / Inventor export

Solidworks
- Trimmed Surface(type 144)
- Surface representation/System preferences: NURBS
Solidworks export

Pro/E Wildfire 4
- Invoke “Option” setting window
- Select “iges_out_all_srfs_as” and set this option to “128”
- Select “iges_out_trm_srfs_as_143” and set this option to “no”
ProE export
When export iges file, the following window will be displayed. Select “Surfaces” only
