Installation error on Windows 7 systems

Note: The following steps only apply to CMM-Manager versions 3.10 and above
There is a known installation error that can occur on Windows 7 systems with the installation of the VC Runtime Redistributable.
The install will make it about ¾ of the way through before failing and rolling back the install.
This error will be noted in the collected installation logs as a failure to install the VS2017_Redist_x64_exe component.

The commonly seen issue is the redistributable will try to install needed Windows 7 Updates, e.g., Windows6.1-KB2999226-x64.msu, but fails.

It is important to confirm which service pack of Windows 7 the target machine has installed, since the updates in the VC redistributable tries to install requires Windows 7 Service Pack 1.
To confirm:
  1. Right-click My Computer, found on the Windows desktop or in the Start menu.
  2. Select Properties in the popup menu.
  3. In the System Properties window, under the General tab, the version of Windows is displayed, and the currently-installed Windows Service Pack.
  4. If not at Windows 7 SP1, run the needed Windows updates to upgrade to Windows 7 SP1.

If the target system is already Windows 7 Service Pack 1:
  1. Make sure there are no pending Windows updates needing applied. If there are, run Windows Update installing all needed updates.
  2. Restart the target system.
  3. Try installing CMM-Manager again.
