"Cliff's Notes" version of the instructions:
Pay very close attention to the terms "temporary" and "old".
- Generate a computer identifier code on the temporary computer
- Transfer this file from the temporary computer to the old computer and import that into the license transfer utility on the old computer
- Update the license on the old computer to use the temporary computer identifier code
- Transfer this license file from the old computer to the temporary computer and apply
- This sequence begins on the temporary computer, moves the the old computer, and finishes back on the temporary computer.
At this point, you can then reformat / reload windows on the original PC, or clone the drive and move it to the new computer. To move the license back to the final destination computer, the transfer is run in reverse. Pay very close attention to the terms "temporary" and "final".

- Transfer this file from the final computer to the temporary computer and import that into the license transfer utility on the temporary computer
- Update the license on the temporary computer to use the final computer identifier code
- Transfer this license file from the temporary computer to the final computer and apply
- This sequence begins on the final computer, moves the the temporary computer, and finishes back on the final computer.
