Windows 11

We have received several questions about Windows 11 and CMM-Manager.
Renishaw has determined that they will not officially support Windows 11 until UCC Suite 5.9 at the earliest to allow sufficient time to fully test the drivers in Windows 11.  We recently had a customer attempt to run CMM-Manager and UCC Suite in Windows 11 and it was unsuccessful. 

Customers should not plan on upgrading any system with UCC Suite / UCC Server (I++ or CMM-Manager Direct Connect 2.0) until Renishaw has officially declared support for Windows 11.
  1. The Windows 11 specification indicates that any applications that were capable of running in Windows 10 should still run in Windows 11.
  2. Several CMM's use drivers that are supplied by the OEM of that brand, or other 3rd party companies.  We have no way of knowing whether these drivers will be compatible or not until we have had sufficient time to test with our drivers.  Any systems that depend solely on CMM-Manager / QxSoft code should still work.  In particular, any controller running with simple RS232 serial communication.
  3. Windows 11 will not be available in 32 bit.  At this point, we believe the only systems affected will be Garda / Nikon MCA I arms.  Other common drivers have been modified to work in 64 bit windows.
  4. Upgrading to Windows 11 is not required.  Support for Windows 10 Enterprise 20H2 (the current LTSC version) ends in 2023.  It is unknown what, if any extensions will be made by Microsoft to this schedule.
