Here is an example of some psuedo code showing how this is configured.

Inspection
Reporting
Create a program in the normal way. Inspect the features that can be accessed in the original alignment. The reporting can be done now, or after the Move Part.
Create a 2nd alignment using features that can be common to before and after the move.
- The original alignment may be used as long as it can be recreated after moving/flipping the part
- it is best if the same features are used for the before and after alignments. It is possible to use a different set of features to re-create the same alignment, but the 'after' alignment and inspection results will include any errors in the difference between the 'before' alignment features and the 'after' alignment features.
- The after alignment must be the same as the before alignment from the part's point of view. This means that the new alignment will not be in the same place or orientation on the machine. But, from the part's point of view, it will be identical.
Select Program Tab | Programming Group | Move Part
Change the name, if desired and click OK
The Begin of: Move Part and End of: Move Part lines are added to the program
Highlight the Begin of: Move Part line
Physically move the part to the new orientation
Recreate the original alignment.
- It is best if the original features are remeasured and used.
- The original alignment must be duplicated from the part's point of view.
Highlight the End of: Move Part line
Select Program Tab | Programming Group | Move Part
Change the status to After Move Part
Note that in this example, the part was flipped around the Y axis. But in both cases, before and after (see the before picture above), the alignment from the part's point of view is identical.
If you need to go back and edit code, the status must be changed to Before Move Part, or After Move Part, depending on where you are in relation to the Move Part code.
Since, from the part's point of view, you are in the same alignment before and after the Move Part, you can report the features which were inspected before the Move Part either before or after the Move Part commands.
This example shows a case where the part needed to be turned over. This command can also be used to simply shift a part along a machine axis for a part that is too large for the machine volume.
