Important: Do not plug in the USB device until all drivers and required utilities are installed.

If the software fails to connect - i.e., "Failed to open Pmac device 1" - Be sure to run CMM-Manager as Administrator, especially with Windows 7.

PMAC Connection Types

  1. Newer - Turbo PMAC card: Always a serial connection. There could be another USB cable connection which is for joystick control.
  2. Older - PC104 PMAC card: Can be USB or serial connection. 

Installation Steps

  1. Download required PMAC files - Helmel_PMAC_x64.zip
    1. Unzip the file for use in the next steps
  2. Install PEWIN32 Pro software - PEWINPRO.exe
    1. Use password (w/o quotes) “packers” to unzip files to C:\PEWINPRO.
    2. Run C:\PEWINPRO\Install1.exe.
    3. Select PEWIN32 Pro.
    4. Use serial no (w/o quotes) “2026914” to authenticate.
  3. Install PEWIN32 Pro software Service Pack - PewinProSP30.exe
    1. Use password (w/o quotes) “packers” to unzip files to C:\deltatau.
    2. Run C:\deltatau\disk1\Setup.exe.
    3. When the installation is complete, re-boot your computer.
  4. Install the PEWIN 64 bit drivers if installing on a 64 bit computer
    1. For serial connection - DT64bitDrivers.zip
      1. The PMAC device won't show up in Device Manager as it is a serial connection. You will need to have a COM port available on the computer.
    2. For USB connection -  Windows 8.1 Drivers.zip
      1. If you plug in the cable and the driver is not present, the PMAC device shows up in Device Manager under Other Devices:

      2. After the driver is installed properly, the PMAC device shows up in Device Manager under Motion Controllers:

  5. Register PMAC Device
    1. Run PEWIN32Pro as administrator
    2. Select menu Setup > General Setup and Options
    3. In the General Setup and Options window, under the Default Device tab, click the select button
    4. In the PMAC Devices window, highlight PMAC 01 - NA first and then click the Insert button
    5. Click on the COM port that the device is connected to. There could be several to choose from. Highlight it, and then click OK. (If a PC104 controller, it could be a USB device).
    6. Click OK to accept this. In most cases, there is no need to change baud rate or parity.
    7. To verify if all was done correctly, and the correct Com Port was selected, click on the Test button. The software will test the communication settings and let you know if the PMAC card was detected. If it is not detected, use the Remove button to remove the device and try inserting again with a different Com Port.
