For some reason, this thought just crossed my mind as an issue. At some point at the beginning of receiving our CMM and using CMM manager, we were taught basics of the software. We slowly learned more over time for what we needed. The way were instructed to pickup location of a threaded hole, was to pick it up as a cylinder with 2 circles set at 1 or 2 pitch lengths apart. This has been working for years. However recently I dove into a program I am having trouble with on trueposition of a hole(threaded) and noticed that this process doesnt make sense. This process will create a cylinder that is offset in at 1 direction as you are hitting the same high point on the thread at each depth. The current "workaround" I see is to pick up multiple depths at being 1/2 pitch depths apart for having at least 3 depths. Not perfect, but better. However I tried searching the community and see someone mentioned about using the thread option for pick up a circle. I dont see this option anywhere in our software. I could see the best way to pick up thread location is by picking up points on a spiral that the same of the pitch, and turning this into a circle. Am I missing something here? Thank you.
