New fitting algorithms in version 2026

New fitting algorithms in version 2026

We're adding some new 3D Plane fitting algorithms and filtering options per ASME Y14.5.1–2019 into CMM-Manager 2026.

Why, you ask?

Standards Compliance - Users can choose the algorithm consistent with ASME Y14.5.1–2019 requirements. Ensures inspection results hold up under customer/OEM requirements.

Flexibility - For R&D or statistical work, an L2 fit may be more useful (smooth, average plane). For production and GD&T conformance, L1 or constrained min/max ensures compliance with drawing intent.

Functional Datum Simulation - Constrained fits in CMM-Manager simulate how the part would actually seat in a fixture or gage, providing true functional datums.

Better Decision Making - Access to all fitting options helps engineers understand differences between “average” vs. “worst-case” conditions. This avoids false acceptance (least squares hiding high spots) or false rejection (improper fitting).
