LK CMM NMC 300 Controller Probe Disarm

LK CMM NMC 300 Controller Probe Disarm

Machine: LK CMM with NMC 300 controller

We have noticed that on execution of a "Get Probe" command the first thing that happens is that the probe disarms and CMM Mgr seems to take the shortest path to the safe position at the rack disregarding anything that is in the way.

However reading the Renishaw TP20 guide it states:
"When using the rack, the inhibit version of the TP20 probe must be used. By generating a magnetic field about the front of each docking port lid, the MCR20 effectively ‘closes' the probe's inhibit switch during a probe module changing cycle. Rack function is completely passive and no electrical input is required."
This implies that the probe does not need to be disarmed by the control as it will happen at the rack.

  1. Is this a function of the controller or CMM-Mgr?
  2. How do I know I have an inhibit TP 20 Probe?
  3. Is there a way in CMM-Manager to stop the probe disarm on execution of a Get Probe command?
  4. Am I doing something wrong or is there a setting which creates the exclusion of 'move to safe position' before returning to the rack?
Broken one stylus already and would like to safeguard against this happening again.
