Very recently our company has fallen under the eyes of a certain company under fire and are having to explain our use of "best-fit" alignments. I'm trying to gather a better understanding of Boeings definition of "production hardware" and was wondering if anyone has found themselves having these same discussions.
I had reached out to the team here privately to ask some questions and was told that essentially the nature of our software uses "best-fit" by default. While not all alignments use "best-fit" in calculating, the features themselves do. Which seems to be frowned upon in the eyes of Boeing. Many if not most of our programs do contain a cloud-to-cad alignment and I have been adding in an RPS alignment afterwards for reporting sake, but it's going to be a project that is going to take some time to fully fix over a thousand programs.
