We will get models that have target point on a datum surface.  what I normally do is extract the points to use as geometry to get my part reference frame and use the alignment tools to set my datums.  Syc part reference frame so the model and datums align.  Recall the machine reference frame to get the part orientated to the machine.  This will leave me with geometry out in space after I have moved/align  the part into the machine envelope.  Is there an easier way to set the datum structure of a model with datum target point?
