Shrunken User Interface!!!
Got a weird issue with a new installation of CMM Manager 2024. I've been using 2023 all this time so I don't know if this is a new option, a windows setting I'm not aware of, or something else entirely. My CMM Manager is weirdly zoomed out! Is there a
Calibration ball tree collision avoidance
If I add the calibration ball tree to the furniture, does collision avoidance work during calibration? i.e. If a probe A90 B-90 is trying to use a ball at 45° in Y-plus (I=0.000 J= 0.707 K=0.707) but is on the Y-minus side of this ball, will it plan a
Tooling Balls
I'm trying to learn how to use CMM manager using a check fixture with 3 tooling balls. I can not find a tutorial anywere on how to do so
New fitting algorithms in version 2026
We're adding some new 3D Plane fitting algorithms and filtering options per ASME Y14.5.1–2019 into CMM-Manager 2026. Why, you ask? Standards Compliance - Users can choose the algorithm consistent with ASME Y14.5.1–2019 requirements. Ensures inspection
GD&T
Hello, can someone please explain what this gd&t is specifically asking? i realize you cannot see the entire print. the reason im asking is because the aerospace company i am making the part for says the callout is asking to hold the shpericity or roundness
Can't insert a point into the Datum for a surface profile
So I'm trying to find the surface profile on a blueprint using 3 different datums (plane, line, and a point). Datum A is a plane.. no problems there. Datum B is a line.. no problems there. Datum C is a point and it is not letting me insert a point when
Basic Angle and Composite Profile of a Line.
I have a question on how to measure the highlighted basic dimensions and how to calculate the lower portion of the composite profile in the print screenshot below on CMM-Manager. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

3D Reverse Engineering
Hi everyone, is it possible to export a 3D CAD-File out of CMM-Manager? For example if I make several 3D measurements using the optics and a touch probe. I have found the export as IGES, DXF or Focus Feature File, but I think these are all 2D Files. correct?
Bolt hole pattern as a primary datum
Is there an optimal way to use a bolt hole pattern as a primary datum that constrains the proper 5 degrees of freedom it's allowed? I have 8 holes spaced evenly at 45° at typical compass directions, all are nominally angled in the Z-Axis. If I measure
Measure Concentricity from Cone to Sphere (or how would you measure this?)
Hi, can the experts give me a hint on how to measure this concentricity correctly? Thank you very much!
DCC program settings and Overwrite
I am using a plane circle circle alignment, with a 2mm ruby. One of my alignment holes is .130, I went into program settings and changed the back off distance to .020 I ran through the program no problem. I also have the .130 back off distance under DCC
Probe not registering points
Sometimes on the initial touch after the cad alignment the Ph20 will not register the points, and we have to start the cycle over again until it registers. Sometimes it will start to register the points after it missed the first couple. When it does that
Trouble with Plane
I am trying to create a 3D plane on the pictured ledge. I was completely successful creating one on the opposite side, they are exactly the same size. Probe has plenty of clearance, I am not running into the table. I even tried adjusting the points right
Profile of a surface
How accurate is checking the profile of a surface when the surface is .098 wide using a 1mm probe? I try to space it out the most I can, but should it still give me an accurate check?
Crazy numbers
When we run a plane the CMM would give us crazy numbers on the axis that are not relevant. (Example, we are measuring a plane in the y axis, and it tells us that it is out of tolerance by up to 3.000 in the X and Z even though it is parallel)
Questions on Move Part
If Nate can answer this, I would greatly appreciate it. I have a round flat part that I have to check. Datum B is a diameter; I can access it only on one side. Several holes on the other side (bottom) are called back to Datum B. I realize I can use Move
New CMM-Manager Chat Bot
Hi all... We're working on getting an OpenAI / ChatGPT bot working on the CMM-Manager Support Portal. Below you can see some sample response from this new system. Many times it responds with a generic response suggesting that it needs additional information

Inspecting parts with large deviation
I do not have time today to create another KB article, but thought sharing this somewhat old tutorial video may be useful for someone out there... If time allows or if someone expresses interest, I will put together a detailed KB Article on this topic.
VB Help
I am using an older version of CMM Manager, which does not include a User Guide for VB scripting. I am attempting to perform calculations on measurement results and then generate a pass/fail outcome to be included in the report. While I have successfully
Slot with MMC
Here is an article I wrote to create a diameter within a slot to apply MMC when the positional callout requires it. https://cmm-quarterly.squarespace.com/articles/cmm-manager-slot-with-mmc
No Pathing.
i am having an issue I have never come across. I loaded my CAD model, aligned CAD with machine coordinates. CMM manager will not path from one feature to the next. It will draw the probe points, but start point is just above first hit, and I get a collision
CMM manager on multiple computers?
Hi all. Our CMM computer is bogged down with trying to run parts and programming new parts at the same time. Our boss has ordered a "dongle" for CMM Manager with the thought that we will be able to program parts on another computer while we run parts
Groove Teach/Scan with Intersection
When teaching or scanning a closed intersection anyone experience same problem as me? If selecting start and endpoint you cannot go all the way round cause it inverts the selection at some point resulting in a very short section. When using the closed
Potential software bug, Diameter sizing
Hello, I've noticed that when you are making a positional report for holes, there seems to be some sort of bug. When you are making reports for multiple holes at the same time and changing the nominals in the "Feature Report" tab, the diameter that I

How to create a plane using high points
I am having an issue checking a part where the datum surface has a .001 low point on the surface. When I create a plane it is averaging the plane and it throws the parallelism out. When checked on the rock, it is fine because it is sitting on the high
I need help, I'm thinking myself into an endless spiral of dumb.
I've been looking at this all morning and can't come up with a good solution. Due to the keyways on the side of the slot I can't use -A- as a center plane it has to be a slot. I figured that I would probe the two cylinders of the slot and construct a
Copy Program Group with Link
Got a long Program Group, which I copy a few times and transform after cause the same element group is a few times on the part. Now I got a few Ideas to easy edit afterwards: Copy and paste as "Linked Group" - Edits in source group are applied automatically
Creating a Dialog Box With an Image Using VB Script
To create a dialog with an attached image by itself is not possible within CMM Manager and we must use a HTML code. The part must be aligned with a fully constrained alignment. ISSUE: We need to measure CYNDR1 first for form. If that is not correct there
Profile vs Cloud to CAD
I want to check Profile of a surface. What is the best way to calculate it, Report Profile or Cloud to CAD? Does Cloud to CAD report just the worst point deviation or does it report the actual profile (2x the worst deviation)? I need to submit data to
Multiple hole collection via remote trigger on Faro arm

GD&T Font?
I've noticed since we updated our software, it shows symbols for GD&T in the report. These symbols show up on the PC that CMM Manager is installed on, but not our other PC's. Is there a font I need to install to see these GD&T symbols?

Scanning SP25M
Hello, I'd like to hear from users of scanning with the SP25M probe. I occasionally use this system and I wanted to know if you also have problems measuring. For example, if I scan a circle with a fairly high point density, it happens that a few points
Does CMM-Manager know how PH10-M Head turns?
Hi, question is basically in title, does CMM-Manager know how the head turns from one angle to another? Especially the turning angles (clockwise, counterclockwise).. In the simulation it only jumps to the new tip angle.. Best Regards
